HIS husky vocals instantly marked him out as a new voice among singer-songwriters.

And now, Ray LaMontagne has announced a 14-date headline tour of the UK.

He will play the Apollo, in Manchester, on Wednesday October 17.

Tickets cost £18.50, and are available by ringing 0870 401 8000, or online from www.gigsandtours.com.

LaMontagne's debut album, Trouble, hit the top 10, and has now sold over 400,000 copies in the UK alone.

Time Out said in their review: "When he opened his mouth, out flew his soul - and beautifully rasping roars of love, life and loss."

A new single, Jolene, the third from the album, will be released on May 7.

LaMontagne's second album, Till The Sun Turns Black was released in the US late last year and will be released in the UK in Summer 2007.
