A RECOVERING drug addict has been jailed for stealing alcohol and razors from a supermarket.
Wayne Still, aged 34, from Chorley Old Road, Bolton, stole five bottles of spirits and 11 razors worth £140 from Morrisons in Mornington Road, Bolton, on March 13.
He pleaded guilty to the theft when he appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Still, who has been addicted to heroin since he was 19, was in breach of a 12-month supervision order imposed by magistrates in October for an assault in which he punched a man.
He has 68 previous offences, 41 related to dishonesty matters.
Peter Leather, defending, said: "The defendant has been addicted to heroin since he was 19 and it has taken over his life.
"He has been taking a blocker drug for a few months and has not touched the drug since.
"He has replaced the drug addiction with an alcohol problem.
"He has made some steps towards recovery and if he goes into custody this work will be undone."
Magistrates sentenced Still to three months in prison for the assault and two months for the theft, to run consecutively.
