TURTON Rotary Club has had another bumper year raising thousands of pounds for local, national and international charities.

Every year the president uses some of that money to makes donations to his chosen charities and prior to his term of office ending Jim Turner handed out cheques at The Last Drop Hotel.

The total this year is £3,600 made up of the following payments: Lagans Foundation - £500, Bolton Mountain Rescue - £500, NW Air Ambulance - £300, Dementia Support Bolton- £500, Fort Alice - £500, Neil Cliffe Wythenshawe Hospital- £250, Marie Curie - £250, RNLI - £100, Prostate Cancer UK - £250, Bolton Golf Cot - £100, Help For Heroes - £250, Marys Meals - £100.

Three further cheques of £1,600 to Lupus UK, £410 to Bolton Dementia Support and £410 to Lagan's Foundation, were also handed over as part of Turton Rotary Club's share of their involvement in the Iron Kids event last year when members were involved in manning the registration. There is also another donation via Iron Kids to The Calvert Trust for £200 but they could not make the presentation.

An additional £4500 was raised at a special president's themed Casino James Bond charity evening for The Alzheimer’s Society.
