AN innovative new movement — which organises community clean-ups and visits to elderly residents — is hosting a 5k fun run at Leverhulme Park.

The #LOVEDOES charity fun run this Saturday aims to collect funds for Bolton Hospice as well as raise awareness of a host of practical community activities people can get involved in.

Entry to the run is £5 with all money raised being donated to the hospice — but all runners are encouraged to raise as much as they can through sponsorship.

The event is open to all ages and abilities.

Those taking part will set off from the running track at noon, and are encouraged to run, walk or even skip around the course.

#LOVEDOES is part of an ongoing campaign by the Kings Church in Breightmet which aims to encourage people to give back to their local community.

The group organises visits to elderly residents, local gardening groups, community clean-ups and many more activities for its volunteers.

Organiser of the fun run Susie Ingram said she hoped the run would inspire people to get more involved in their local area.

She added: “The fun run isn’t about being the fastest or competing with anyone — it is simply about being out in the community together and doing something for a good cause.

"We hope to raise money for Bolton Hospice but also to tell more people about the work of #LOVEDOES and hopefully let them know about the other amazing projects they can get involved with.”
