MEMBERS of St Simon & St Jude ADS are going on a summer holiday for their latest production — and are inviting people in Bolton to join them.

The drama group's annual summer show Summer Breeze follows a typical beach holiday filled with plenty of song, dance and fun.

Those who attend the show can enjoy performances of sing-a-long songs such as La Bamba, The Rhythm is Going to Get You — and of course the classic Summertime.

Treasurer Stella Crank said: "It is a family show based on a typical beach holiday so there will be plenty of colourful swimming costumes and the usual British holiday attire.

"Sadly it is a shame the weather has taken a turn this last week – when it was hot last week we were even thinking about serving cocktails outside.

"We usually do a play in October, a pantomime in February and a summer show in July. Last year we did Tutti Frutti Rock 'n Roll which was great fun, and we hope this year will follow suit."

Twenty one people are cast with all taking equal roles in the family production.

Stella said: "There are a few sketches in the show and comic moments, so it will hopefully raise a few laughs too. It is a made up show but we are linking it with a comic narrative.

"There are 21 people in the cast altogether. None of them are classed as having a main part as such – everyone is equal in the show. The dance numbers have 10 people in them and they all swap around switching from singing to dancing. Ages range from 14 to 70 so it really is a mixed choral performance.

"It's all about pretending you're on a nice hot beach somewhere like the Caribbean so expect plenty of Hawaiian shirts and shorts."

Summer Breeze, directed by Wayne Gibson, is running from July 22 to 25. Call 01204 520232 for tickets.
