Parrot thief fined

A PARROT thief who stole a pet from a Bolton shop has been sentenced to do 80 hours unpaid work by Bolton magistrates.

Shaun Devaney, aged 30, of Hulton Lane, Bolton, pleaded guilty to taking the parrot, valued at £800, from Dave's Aquarium and a kennel, worth £100 from Jollies Pet Food Superstore on July 7.

Magistrates ordered Devaney to participate in 20 days of a rehabilitation activity and told him he must pay a £180 criminal courts charge, £100 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Teen vandal in court

A TEENAGER who vandalised Astley Bridge Children's Centre has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Bolton Youth Court.

The 15-year-old boy from Sharples, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted damaging shed doors at the centre on May 19 and then destroyed plants worth £50 on June 16.

Magistrates ordered him to pay £50 compensation as well as a £10 victim surcharge.

Assault criminal tagged

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to be electronically tagged and subject to a curfew after he pleaded guilty to assaulting two men.

Paul Horrocks, aged 35, of Bee Fold Lane, Atherton, admitted causing actual bodily harm to Michael Brown and assaulting Martin Jones in Bolton on April 11.

Bolton magistrates sentenced Horrocks to a 10 week 8pm to 6am curfew and ordered that he pay Mr Brown £100 compensation.

Horrocks was also told he must pay £350 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Teen admits to handling stolen laptop

BOLTON magistrates have sentenced a teenager to spend 12 hours at an attendance centre after handling a stolen Apple laptop worth £2,300.

Billy Foster, aged 18, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, admitted committing the offence on May 9.

His co-accused, James Taylor, aged 21, of Whalley Avenue, Bolton, admitted receiving the laptop and was ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work.

Both men were also ordered to pay a £180 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Gas spray man given curfew

A MAN who was caught carrying a cs gas spray cannister has been sentenced to a three month curfew.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Benjamin Murphy, aged 40, of Brookdale Close, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on July 10.

Murphy was electronically tagged and is subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew.

He must also pay a £180 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Court finds man guilty of assault

BOLTON magistrates have fined a man £390 after he was found guilty of beating a woman and admitted assaulting a second female.

Craig Gavin, aged 28, of Halliwell Road, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, £200 prosecution costs and a £520 criminal court charge.

Driver banned over breath test refusal

A MOTORIST who failed to produce a drink driving breath sample has been fined £110 by Bolton magistrates.

Vojtech Cverna, aged 57, of Willows Lane, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on August 1.

He was also banned from holding a driving licence for 18 months and ordered to pay a £150 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Curfew ordered for car criminals

TWO men who denied allowing themselves to be carried in a stolen car have been found guilty by Bolton magistrates.

Zsolt Kolompar, aged 24 of Victoria Grove, Bolton and Peter Kolompar, aged 18, of Mornington Road, Bolton, committed the offence when they rode in a Peugeot car on November 27 last year.

Magistrates ordered them each to be electronically tagged and subject to a 16 week 7pm to 7am curfew.

Each man was also told he must pay £200 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Teenage boy in court over meter damage

A TEENAGER who damaged a car park payment meter, stole a sat nav and interfered with a Humer vehicle and two minibuses has been sentenced to a youth rehabilitation order for 12 months.

The 15-year-old boy from Bolton, who cannot be identified because of his age, admitted causing damage estimated at £500 to the NCP meter on May 2 and committing the other offences six days later.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.

Dangerous driver tagged 

A DANGEROUS driver who was caught behind the wheel of a car on Bedford Street, Bolton, has been electronically tagged.

At Bolton Magistrates Court Joseph McKeown, aged 23, of Lightbounds Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Vectra dangerously and without a licence or insurance on June 24.

McKeown will be subject to a three month curfew and must participate in rehabilitation activities for up to 40 days.

He was also banned from holding a licence for 12 months and must pay a £180 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Man ordered to pay assault victim £50

A FINE of £95 has been handed to a man who admitted assault and using threatening or abusive behaviour.

Adam Handley, aged 27, of Wilton Street, Bolton, committed the offences on May 25.

Bolton magistrates also ordered him to pay £50 compensation, a £150 criminal courts charge and £85 prosecution costs.

Booze thief in court

A SHOPLIFTER who stole alcohol worth £130 from Asda in Bolton has been sentenced to do 120 hours unpaid work by magistrates.

Dragos Marinescu, aged 21, of Seaforth Grove, Leeds, pleaded guilty to taking the bottles on August 25 and to failing to surrender to court.

Magistrates also confiscated a foil lined bag from Marinescu and ordered him to pay a £150 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Careless driver fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a motorist £400 after finding him guilty in his absence of careless driving.

Mohamed Adam, aged 26, of Maplewood Gardens, Bolton, committed the offence while driving a Honda Civic on Derby Street on March 15.

The case went ahead in his absence at Bolton magistratesCourt and also ordered Adam to pay £110 prosecution costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
