SOON Bolton will be awash with new students, ready to hit the town and enjoy a good night.

But where should they venture? Here is our lowdown on 20 town centre venues where you can enjoy everything from free pool to a meal for £3.25 and bargain drinks galore.

Dragonfly, Nelson Square

Get down to Dragonfly on a Wednesday night for offers including £2 for a single spirit and £3 for a double. On Sunday nights, the pub hosts a smartphone quiz so grab some mates, put your brainy heads together and find out just how clever you are.

Yates’s, Bradshawgate

Look out for Yates’s staff on campus next Thursday, giving out vouchers for cheaper drinks. Every day, the pub has a selected £3.25 meal deal for a full-size portion, such as BBQ melt or fish and chips. Who said student life has to be all Pot Noodles and beans on toast?

Harvey’s Cafe Bar, Mawdsley Street

Harvey’s is a more upmarket watering hole where people go for after work drinks or a tasty pub meal. On Fizzy Friday, you can get a bottle of Prosecco for £14.99. Staff said there are plans to introduce events for students with offers such as cheaper cocktails.

Staff from the JD Wetherspoon pub will be handing out voucher booklets on the university campus next week with drinks offers. There will be a quiz night on Monday, September 28, with 20% off food.

If you like your music loud, this is the place to go. The Alma is always popular with students who are into rock, metal and punk music.

The fun kicks off tomorrow night at this popular live music venue with the official freshers’ welcome. There will live music by Rachel Green and Naked Stereo plus drinking games throughout the night. Every Wednesday is the Rawkus Club night, an official student night dedicated to pop, punk, metal and alternative music. Drinks offers before 11pm, including 2 for 1 cocktails.
