A HOT drink and a slice of cake was waiting for visitors to three Bolton schools.

Ladybridge Primary, St Peter's CE Primary School in Farnworth, and Devonshire Road Primary School were three of the schools taking part in the world's biggest coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Colin Watson, headteacher of the Ladybridge Primary, said: "We had grandparents, parents and a few member of the community drop in for a coffee.

"The parents, teachers and friends association put on a good spread.

"We had a good turnout."

St Peter's CE also had a successful coffee, with parents and children donating cakes.

Jenny Cox, teacher and in charge of the school council said: "The coffee morning went really well.

"The school council have been talking about how small things make a big difference.

"By working together the children have made a massive difference.

"The event also tied in with the school promoting British values, caring and looking after each other."

Youngster Prisha Patel, aged seven, was on hand at Devonshire Road Primary School to hand out the cakes.
