FIRE: The car on the hard shoulder of the M61
MOTORISTS faced delays on the M61 near Horwich after a car fire.
One lane of the northbound carriageway of the motorway was closed between junction 6 at Horwich and junction 8 at Chorley.
The car was moved onto the hard shoulder and the lane has now re-opened, with traffic returning to normal.
A fire service spokesman said two crews attended at 2.25pm.
He said the cause of the blaze is currently unclear.
