A SMALL Horwich estate agency has scooped a national award beating hundreds of other agencies from all over the country.

Redman Casey in Winter Hey Lane won the New Agency of the Year title in the 2015 awards run by estate agency “bible” The Negotiator magazine, at a prestigious event at London’s Hilton Hotel which was attended by over 700 nominees.

Not only did they take the top award against fierce countrywide competition but they were named runners-up in the North West Agency of the Year award as well.

“We are absolutely delighted,” said co-owner David Redman. “We went feeling that we had little chance against agencies of every size from around the country. We did, though, feel very proud to be made one of the six finalists in each of the two categories.

“To say that we were shocked when our name was read out as the New Agency of the Year is an understatement.

"Then to be runner-up for the regional award, covering agencies from South Manchester to Cumbria, was just the icing on the cake.”

The awards, which also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the magazine, were hosted by comedian Alistair McGowan and judged by industry experts including estate agency guru Adam Walker and Peter Bolton-King, former head of the National Association of Estate Agents.

The judges commented on Redman Casey’s “impressively fast growth without any external funding" adding: "This young agency has delivered some very good results.”

Mr Redman and fellow experienced estate agent Janet Casey only opened the business 17 months ago and within a year were officially No.1 for selling homes in the BL6 postcode, according to Rightmove.

The staff has grown to eight members, including the latest additions – Janet’s husband Sean Casey, son Daniel Boss and Kirsty Perry who are all experienced estate agents. The rest of the award-winning team are Janine Pennington, Lucy Wilson and Yvonne Moller.

Mrs Casey added: “Winning this award just cements everything the business has worked towards and recognises both what the team has achieved and the fact that we are a trusted and well-run estate agency.”
