SOME time ago we featured the Bradshawgate Arcade in Looking Back and what a wonderful response we had from our readers.

It seems this little arcade was fondly remembered by many of our readers including some who worked there but others who used the little shops.

What particularly fascinated us about this picture was the wonderful dress display that is being studied by the two women in headscarves.

Someone has clearly worked very hard to create what really is a work of art in the shop window.

The dresses are delightful and indicative of 1960 when this picture was taken.

They look to be made from lovely bright, colourful fabrics and patterns which was a very 1950s or early 1960s style.

We love the full skirts — perfect for an evening enjoying rock and roll music and dancing at the Palais de Danse in Bolton.

As we can just make out on the glass door the shop was called Diana Ross but we believe that is the shop next door which sold children's wear. We believe the shop we see here is the high class gown shop Pamela Frank.

Do you have memories of the 1950s and 1960s you can share with us — particularly the fashions of the time?
