A BOLTON youngster was all smiles after winning an international Christmas card competition.

Lydia Hilton, aged 11, is a pupil at Harwood Meadows Primary School and was invited, along with other students at the school, to take part in the card-designing contest organised by international educational software firm 2simple.

Lydia designed her snowman using her laptop and was delighted to beat off competition from more than 3,000 entrants and land first prize.

She was handed a framed version of her design, which will be featured on materials released by 2simple.

Deb Lyons looks after computer and e-learning in primary schools for Bolton primaries and encouraged local kids to enter.

She said: "This was a good way of getting the kids to be creative and also get into the Christmas spirit and I am delighted that a pupil from a Bolton school was the winner."
