A FAMILY pantomime will be staged in Horwich this Christmas, following the success of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Fame Factory Spotlight will be back at the Premier Suite, Macron Stadium, later this year with a production of Dick Whittington.

There are 14 public performances currently on sale which will increase once the football fixtures have been released in the summer.

The fun kicks off on Sunday, December 18, at 1.30pm and the show runs until Christmas Eve.

Last Sunday, the curtain came down on the production company's inaugural show at the stadium with hundreds of people packed in to enjoy the panto, which starred former Coronation Street actor Graeme Hawley and Emmerdale and Casualty actress Chelsea Halfpenny.

It also showcased talented young performers from Dawson's Academy of Dance and Stage, Great Moor Street, Bolton, and Apple Dance in Leigh.

Dozens of families affected by the recent devastating floods in Stoneclough and Salford were in the audience after organisers donated free tickets to spread some festive cheer.

Producer Nikki Clarkson said: "This panto season was a resounding success for Jack and the Beanstalk, not only did our audiences keep on laughing throughout the show, they also went to the trouble of telling us exactly how much they enjoyed the show, via social media.

"Being from Bolton originally I have always wanted to produce the Big Bolton Panto, since watching pantos growing up so it was really special to see it succeed and to have so many people say such great things about the show.

"Scott Clarkson, the script writer is renowned for making the comedy the forefront of each show — that, with a great cast can only ever be a great combination.

"The front of house staff and management were always on hand to make sure everything was organised wonderfully.

"People were concerned due to the unreserved seating but were soon relieved to find that in fact the view was great from all 1,000 seats.

"We have wonderful plans in place for Dick Whittington, not only will it look completely different staging wise, now that we know it will be a success we can put more into it.

"We also have twice as many school shows due to the popularity."
