A BOLTON boxing club had a clean sweep of victories when they staged a show last weekend.

Halliwell Amateur Boxing Club had seven fighters in action at the Holiday Inn in Bolton and emerged with a 100 per cent winning record.

Abdul Khan, aged 13, beat Dan Brown from Sale on points at the 45k category.

Halliwell ABC coach Ian Mason edged a hard-fought 81k battle with Jack Pattinson from Wigton ABC, and Sonny Jeffery came back from losing the first round against John Braithwaite from Barrow ABC to beat his much bigger heavyweight opponent by rocking him several times to take by decision.

Mickey Ellison made it seven wins out of seven for the local club against Narim Mirohossein before two fighters from New Premier Amateur Boxing Club in Bolton took to the ring.

Haseeb khan narrowly lost on points to Declan Dee from Sale West at 36k and Samar Aftab beat Martin McDonagh from Fit2xl at 46k on points.

Halliwell ABC, which is based at Elite boxing/Thai gym in Halliwell, are staging another show at the Last Drop Hotel in Bromley Cross on April 23.
