A BOLTON company celebrating its 40th anniversary has a clear vision of success.

Grosvenor Windows started life as a small family business and grew to become one of the North West’s leading home improvement companies.

It is still owned and operated by the same local family, although today is situated in spacious premises in Horwich which showcase its vast range of windows, doors, orangeries and conservatories.

When it was first started by Peter Mills, Grosvenor Windows manufactured and installed aluminium windows. Within just a few years, it had to relocate to larger premises, coinciding with the switch to UPVC products to keep pace with the changing market.

Further moves — to new, purpose-built premises in Manchester Road — followed. In 2002, with expansion in the commercial market, even these large premises were outgrown in favour of the manufacturer’s unit on the Lodge Bank Estate in Crown Lane with the latest machinery and a separate showroom.

Today, this is one of the region’s largest indoor showrooms in the industry.

Grosvenor Windows’ core products are still largely the same. What has changed, though, is the technology meaning a huge range of products, in all kinds of colours, with far greater insulation and much improved security.

As managing director Dominic Mills explained: “Many of the original windows we supplied are still in place and still fine. But now the range is so great and the products so far advanced that we offer the very latest products.”

What is a great indicator, however, of Grosvenor’s own reputation over the decades is that the company is now dealing with second and third generations of original customers. “Yes, that is a matter of real pride,” added Mr Mills.

This success is down to a combination of winning ingredients. As a policy, the company never employs pressure sales. “We never push customers,” said Mr Mills.

Its 25 or so staff are dedicated and experienced. Its two sales’ designers, for example, have a total of 54 years working in this field and completely understand the current market and individual customer’s needs.

Then there are the products themselves. Grosvenor’s main window stockist is VEKA, one of the most famous names globally in this field. The German, family-owned international firm has manufacturing plants in 11 countries, including in Burnley which supplies Grosvenor.

The Grosvenor name is also a byword for trusted quality and Network VEKA is the guarantee of this. Grosvenor was one of the founding members of Network VEKA and no individual guarantee is given without that customer filling out a questionnaire about Grosvenor’s service which scores at least 98 per cent.

The latest technology runs alongside the latest security. Grosvenor can offer windows and doors in an array of traditional and modern styles, all bespoke and made to the highest standards.

Its commercial side has also grown exponentially. Grosvenor have long-standing partnerships with some of the most famous names in UK building, like Seddons, and have worked on a variety of projects of all sizes — providing another window on their talents.
