JASON Kenny stayed on course for his fifth Olympic gold medal with a dominant performance to reach the quarter-finals.
The Boltonian eased to victory against Columbia's Fabian Hernando Puerta Zapata in a time of 10.369secs to qualify and will take to the track again this evening at 8pm, with the semi-finals scheduled for a 9.41pm start.
Kenny won his fourth gold on Thursday, with victory in the three-man team sprint event.
He will be joined in the quarter-finals by Callum Skinner.
Skinner, who had anchored the winning sprint team that included Kenny and Phil Hindes, had set a record of 9.703 in qualifying.
But Kenny ended the round as top seed after he clocked a staggering 9.551, the quickest time ever set.
