SCENE: The incident happened in Milnthorpe Road just off Bury Road
AN elderly woman has been taken to hospital following an accident this evening in Breightmet.
Police were called to Milnthorpe Road off Bury Road at 5.35pm to reports of a road traffic collision.
When they arrived they found that there had been a collision between a cyclist and an elderly pedestrian.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "It appears as though the lady was hit and then landed on the pavement banging her head."
Paramedics attended and took the woman to hospital.
Emergency services were still at the scene at 7.20pm.
