A ROAD has reopened following a crash involving a car and a motorbike.
Emergency services were called to Blackburn Road following the collision between the motorcyclist, a red Toyota Yaris and a white Mercedes.
The motorcyclist was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital before being transferred to Salford Royal. He has sustained a fractured ankle and is undergoing tests for any possible further injuries.
His family are with him.
The road was shut between Astley Street and Waters Meeting Road, Astley Bridge, following the smash.
Emergency services were called just after 6pm.
Police were directing traffic away from the scene.
One local worker said: "I didn't see what had happened but I did see the firefighters and the police.
"The road was closed for a while."
A police spokesman said: "The motorcyclist has suspected servere leg injuries."
