POLICE were called to Bolton town centre today after reports of a man with a gun in Halifax bank.
Initially officers were called to an address in Rutland Grove to reports of a concern for welfare for a man at 9.35am.
Police then received a call from staff members at the Halifax Bank in Knowsley Street who were concerned a man in the bank may have had a gun.
Police found the man, who had been shouting and causing a disturbance in the bank, did not in fact have a gun.
He was initially detained on suspicion of affray, but was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
