THIS photograph brought back memories for two of our readers.
Frank Hart saw the picture and immediately recognised himself on it.
“I am in the middle of the third row.
“I now live in Morecambe Bay.
“It was a lovely surprise to see the picture,” he says.
The photograph also brought back memories for another reader.
“The photograph evoked a few good memories.
“I am not able to help with any names as I arrived at Roscoe Fold the year after the 1948 photograph was taken, in 1949, when I was aged nine and I have a similar photo of that year, taken on Stephens Street at the front of the school,” says Ken Hampson.
He believes the photograph was taken in front of the Church Hall mentioned in the article.
“My recollection is that this was a wooden building at the far side of the top playground and not used much by the school during my time there.
“It was however used by the Church Lads’ Brigade and for many years I was a member of the band and paraded regularly there.
“The Church Lads’ Brigade was very popular in those days although I got the impression that the Vicar thought us a bit uncouth as we chattered during his sermon on church parades,” he adds.
