A woman, aged 97, was robbed in her home by a man posing as a water worker.
The pensioner answered the door of her home in Manchester Road, Walken, at 7pm on Thursday night and was confronted by a man saying he wanted to check her water supply.
He then went into the house and stole the woman's purse, leaving her badly shaken by the incident.
Police have issued the following description of the man: Aged 35-40, about 5ft 2ins and of medium build. He had brown hair and thick lips.
