THIS photograph was taken in July 1973 close to Bolton town centre.
Residents living near a Bolton factory were claiming that if heavy lorries were allowed to use the narrow streets they could damage homes and endanger the lives of children.
People living in the Bridgewater Street and Edith Street area were objecting to a planned entrance gate to Southern Brothers Ltd's works at Gilnow Mill in Spa Road.
The firm was planning to make a new gateway into Bridgewater Street.
Our picture shows Mrs Elsie Wilkinson, of Bridgewater Street, Mrs Alice Gibbons, who lived in Vincent Street and Mr Yusef Haid, of Bridgewater Street, who were all objecting to the plans.
We were struggling to place the exact location of this picture and wondered if any of our readers could help.
Perhaps you were even involved in the battle to prevent the entrance being given planning permission?
Contact Gayle McBain on 01204 537269 or email gayle.mcbain@nqnw.co.uk if you are able to help.
