TWO drug-dealing brothers are being made to hand over £84,000, they made from their illegal trade.

Sarfraz and Saqib Hussain, aged 28 and 26, of Gilnow Road, Deane, were leaders of the Choppa gang, which sold heroin and crack cocaine.

They were caught selling drugs to police during an undercover sting last year.

Saqib Hussain was seen dealing on 16 separate occasions and was sentenced to five years in April, alongside Sarfraz Hussain, who was sentenced to six years.

An application was made under the Proceeds of Crime Act at Bolton Crown Court to seize the money.

Judge Elliott Knopf ruled that the older brother had earned £15,528 through drug dealing and his younger brother made £68,784.

Saqib Hussain was ordered to forfeit £1,400 immediately, which police recovered in a raid on their home.

Sarfraz Hussain was told he must pay back £677 within six months or face an extended jail sentence.

They will owe the remainder of the figure to police, who have the power to take them to court and forfeit any assets they hold in the future, up to the total amount owed.

Tony Wood, financial investigator for Bolton police, said: "This is another example of how the Proceeds of Crime Act can target drug dealers even after they have been convicted of their drug offences.

"We can strip away their assets and the fruits of their criminality."
