TODAY’S photograph shows work being carried out in the Burnden area of Bolton .
Unfortunately we do not have a date for the photograph being taken but perhaps our readers can help identify the era.
It is a busy scene with a number of cars and buses travelling along Manchester Road and several shops situated among the houses we can.
Today it would be a very different scene.
But what were the workmen digging the foundations for?
We just cannot place what this would be. Would the large area of open space be the car park at Burnden Park?
If so what was built right next to the football ground?
We understand there may well have been private houses there at one time but we are not sure about this.
Can you give us any information about the Burnden area which has changed so much over the years?
If so contact Gayle McBain on 01204 537269 or email gayle.mcbain@nqnw.co.uk and we will include a feature on this part of town in a future edition of Looking Back.
