A 28-YEAR-OLD man was part of a gang of burglars who targeted homes for executive cars, cash and jewellery, Bolton Crown Court has heard.

Marius Baama is alleged to have targeted three homes with other men during a two-month period last year.

On April 22, thieves struck at Kendal Road West in Holcombe Brook, Bury, taking the keys to an Audi A4 convertible.

Later the same night, an Alfa Romeo 156 was taken from a house in Princess Road, Lostock, along with jewellery and electrical goods.

Prosecuting, Alaric Bassano, said Baama was seen just 15 minutes after the second burglary loading electrical items into a house in Fortune Street, Burnden.

"So recent was the defendant's possession of the items that only one explanation is possible," said Mr Bassano.

The jury was told that Baama was also involved in a burglary at Crompton's Farm off Slack Lane in Bradshaw on June 19.

Owner Colin Corless was away when a gang struck at 3.20pm and stole a computer, jewellery and £20,000 in cash.

The total value of the thefts was £75,000.

Terry Walker, who runs a Bolton scrapyard, said Baama admitted that he had been the driver in the third burglary, said Mr Bassano.

On a fourth count, Baama is accused of intimidating Zoe Greamer, who will give evidence to say that she saw Baama and others unloading items from the boot of car in to a house shortly after the second burglary.

Baama, of Embla Walk, Burnden, denies three charges of burglary and one charge of witness intimidation.

Lewis Chorlton, aged 21, of Roxalina Street, Deane, has pleaded guilty to all three burglaries. Ashley Derbyshire, aged 19, of Tildsley Street, Deane, has pleaded guilty to the burglaries at Slack Lane and Princess Road.

The case continues.
