A 70-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to hospital following a motorway collision.

The pensioner was a passenger in a Renault Espace which was towing a caravan when it jackknifed near to junction 14 of the M60, travelling anti-clockwise towards Salford.

The woman was cut free from the car by firefighters who were called to the scene at 4pm today. She was stabilised by paramedics and transferred to hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Her husband was driving the vehicle but did not require treatment.

Tailbacks followed as the motorway was reduced to one lane for about two hours.
