A MAN was saved by his smoke alarm after falling asleep on his settee as a pan of food began burning on his cooker.
The alarm alerted neighbours in Tintern Avenue, Tonge Moor, and firefighters were called at 11.24pm last night. (MON) Watch Commander Paul Norris said: "Without the alarm nobody would have been alerted and there would have been a proper fire which could have easily spread."
