Police explosives experts were called to check out a suspicious van in Bolton town centre.
Office workers called police after the white Renault Trafic appeared to be abandoned on double yellow lines in Breightmet Street shortly before 3pm yesterday.
About 10 officers were at the scene for two hours from 3.30pm before experts gave the all-clear.
