A FATHER-to-be who threw stones at his pregnant partner has been spared jail.

Anthony Everill, aged 20, of Wordsworth Avenue, New Bury, Farnworth, admitted assaulting his former partner, Crystal Ashby, on June 2.

The court heard she was 12 weeks pregnant with his child.

He also pleaded guilty to causing Miss Ashby to fear violence in an incident on the previous day in which he shouted abuse at her.

When she went inside a house in Wordsworth Avenue, Farnworth, to get away from him, he repeatedly punched and kicked the door, for which he admitted criminal damage.

Peter Leather, defending, said Everill had now been forgiven by Miss Ashby and he was hoping to move into her home in Blackburn.

Bolton Magistrates' Court gave him a three-month suspended prison sentence and a 12-month supervision order and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of community service.

He was ordered to pay £43 in costs, £100 in compensation for the damage to the door and £50 in compensation to Miss Ashby.

Everill also admitted a separate incident of being a passenger in a car which had been taken without consent and was banned from driving for a year.
