IT is good to hear that the parking adjudicator has ruled in favour of the hard pressed motorist in what could be a landmark case.
Lynne Pilkington was furious to find she had received a ticket after she had parked her car over the parking bay white line.
Her father-in-law Barry Moss is self-taught in parking law and took her case to the Parking Adjudication Service and won by arguing that the parking sign was wrongly worded.
Given that Bolton's parking wardens seem to be intent on frightening motorists and shoppers away from the town, this is a great victory for drivers.
The only trouble is, if it is only a problem with wording, the council may just change the signs when it should be looking to change its attitude and start interpreting the spirit, rather than the letter, of the law.
