AN allotment scheme designed to engage problem youths has been given a £1,000 grant.
The cash will help project leaders reach out to more youngsters who they feel would benefit from the scheme.
Budding gardeners will get the chance to plant, cultivate and care for the fruit, veg and plants they grow, thanks to the cash.
The £1,000 grant, sponsored by phone company, O2, was presented as part of the It's Your Community award.
The It's Your Community Awards are distributed across the UK.
O2 bosses handed the cash over today at the Cable Street Allotments in Cable Street, Bolton.
An O2 spokesman said: "We hope that the local young people can experience something to remember and learn from this environmental challenge."
