The BGA League's season is reaching its climax in the race for the championship play-offs.
With the top two teams in each section going through to the semi-finals, both Old Links and Chorley look certain to qualify as current leaders.
After early setbacks, Old Links stormed into a substantial lead in Section A with five straight wins.
However, persistent Harwood have managed to cut the lead to only six points with Old Links travelling to Harwood next week in what could be a decisive match.
Deane have not produced their usual standard this year and are not likely to worry the leaders although they have to host both Old Links and Harwood over the next two weeks.
Chorley and Dunscar have been vying for the top spot in Section B all season and when Dunscar recently shared the points with Chorley away from home, it gave them a distinct advantage.
However, with Dunscar suffering a narrow defeat at Breightmet last week, Chorley have increased their lead to eight points. This makes Chorley's visit to Dunscar tonight an all-important match.
Third place Horwich will not consider themselves out of the running with two home matches to come and a visit to Dunscar in a fortnight which could decide all three top places.
RESULTS Section A: Harwood 7.5 Westhoughton 0.5; Turton 5 Deane 3; Hindley 2.5 Bolton 5.5.
Section B: Breightmet 4.5 Dunscar 3.5; Regent Pk 3.5 Chorley 4.5; Horwich 5.5 Grt Lever 2.5.
