DAVID Wheater picked up Wanderers’ player of the year trophy – and celebrated with a song!
Grabbing his central defensive partner Mark Beevers, the “Wheevers” super-group launched into a rendition of the Neil Diamond classic “Sweet Caroline”.
Wheater scored nine goals in 49 appearances this season, including one in each of the vital victories over Port Vale and Peterborough.
He has also been part of a defensive unit which has conceded 36 goals, a record for a 46-game season.
