EVERYONE loves a pantomime, they are a full of family friendly fun — up until now.

This weekend a bunch of grown-up performers will be delivering some slap and tickle on stage.

Stagedoor Theatre Productions has created the town's first adult-only pantomime.

Cinderella promises lots of laughs and some cheeky touches when it hits the stage in Farnworth.

Combining a much-loved fairy tale with some naughty jokes has been the task of writer Chris Anderton.

The 54-year-old from Astley said: "We have done children's shows, but after our last one someone said 'why not do an adult version? there's not anything like that here'.

"I thought it would just be a case of changing the script a little bit but it progressed so much I've completely re-written it!

"It is not overly 'blue', it's more of a Carry On Cinderella. There's a lot of innuendo and saucy stuff like you would have seen with Benny Hill.

"We should have sold tickets for the rehearsals, we have been in fits of laughter all the way through. it has been so much fun to do.

"We are trying all the time to push the bar, from white ponies and illuminated carriages with 3,000 bulbs, and we want to do the same here. We have had lots of success with our other pantomimes and we hope we can do it again here!"

Audiences, who must be aged over 18, can expect the same story of Cinderella with her Ugly Sisters and all.

Mr Anderton added: "Cinderella certainly doesn't end up with her Prince in this one, there's a bit of a problem!"

Stagedoor was established in 2014 and is an amateur musical and performing arts society producing reviews, cabaret and pantomimes, working with both adults and children.

A cast of 15 will be entertaining audiences at Our Lady of Lourdes Function Suite in Plodder Lane, Farnworth, on June 16 and 17 from 7.30pm. For tickets call 07803 045892.
