FESTIVAL goers can enjoy a glass — or two — of fine wine at this year's Bolton Food and Drink event.

Aldi has been confirmed as the headline sponsors for the third year and to celebrate it will hosting an wine bar in the centre of Victoria Square during the festival for visitors to enjoy a tipple of its finest award winning wines.

The festival will run from Friday, August 25 until Monday, August 28.

Master of Wine, Sarah Abbott will stage a series of wine tasting sessions from the marquee outside Bolton Town Hall, free of charge to visitors, who will have the opportunity to sample wines and learn more about each specially selected bottle.

Festival goers will also be able to visit a wine bar in the heart of Victoria Square where they can enjoy Prosecco, wine and cocktails at Aldi's Top Tiples.

The superstore has established a reputation for its fine wines often being judged better than those more expensive.

Area managers and store colleagues will be pour drinks from the supermarket's luxury Exquisite range while serving up nibbles, including British Strawberries and Belgian Chocolate Waves, tortillas with sour cream and chive dip, peanuts and olives.

Aldi’s wines and spirits will be served at the prestigious Gala Dinner on the Friday evening, where guests will enjoy five gourmet courses created by celebrity chefs from around the world.

And the supermarket will also be supplying various wines, beers and spirits to a number of celebrity events throughout the festival, including Ainsley Harriet’s wine tasting and Aiden Byrne’s ‘Made in Bolton’ pop-up restaurant.

Aldi Regional Managing Director, Ruth Doyle, said: "We are a huge supporter of the festival - which seems to get better each year — and we’re proud to be headline sponsors for a third year running.

"For the last two years, our beers, wines and spirits have only been available at ticketed events, so we’re excited to be offering these to all visitors to the festival this year.

"Aldi is one of the largest employers in Bolton, and our continued support for the festival shows our commitment to the town.

Since relocating its Regional Distribution Centre to Bolton, Logistics North last year, Aldi has employed over 200 people from the Bolton area.

Aldi continued its expansion across the Bolton area with the opening of its brand new store, just across the road from the distribution centre at the start of June.
