A YEAR 10 Bolton School girl has won first prize in the Year 7-11 category of the inaugural Oxford University Spanish Flash Fiction Competition.
Anna Clark’s 100-word story told of a death in a family caused in accident. She wrote each sentence in English before translating it into Spanish.
She was commended for her “combination of linguistic accuracy and creative inventiveness”.
Judges remarks included: “What made this story stand out was its combination of the focus on a single moment which flash fiction often elicits together with brief glimpses of something greater.”
