KIND-hearted Bolton comic Peter Kay has donated more than £75,000 to help a brave young boy battling a rare form of cancer.

The Car Share star recently performed two shows in one day at the Manchester 02 Apollo to raise money for Make Kyle Smile and The Polly Haydock Appeal.

12-year-old Kyle Buckley suffers from the rare muscle tissue cancer, Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma and fundraising has been taking place to allow him to get the treatment he needs.

Some of the treatment options potentially available to Kyle involve travelling to the US.

Kyle is originally from Deane but now lives in Atherton.

Kyle's mum Carol took to Facebook to thank Peter for his generosity.

She said that the stand-up comedian has donated £75,898 to Kyle's Fund.

She said: "How amazing and so so kind is that? We as a family thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

"This means so much to us for Kyle's treatment."

The shows were also raising money for mum-of-three Polly, Westhoughton, who was told last July she had six months to live after the cancer spread into her lymph nodes, bones, liver and lungs.

She needs to raise £400,000 to receive expert treatment in Germany,

All the profits from the Apollo shows were going to the two charities as Peter wanted to help make both of their live's better.

The shows involved a Q and A and Peter also discussed his career in comedy, showing some exclusive clips and outtakes from his career.

Kyle was first diagnosed in 2014 and receive intensive treatment and a drug had an adverse effect and he became deaf in July 2014.

He relapsed in May 2015 before he was given the all clear in December of that year.

In March 2017 a scan showed that Kyle's cancer had returned and is once again battling.

Phoenix Nights star Peter is going back on the road next year when his Dance for Life returns.

The three-hour long danceathon is going on tour and will be visiting Coventry and Liverpool, before coming to Manchester for the first time for three nights over the Easter weekend.

The show will be held at Manchester Central and all the nights are raising money for Cancer Research UK.

People are encouraged to get sponsorship and come along and dance for the good cause.
