A ROAD was closed after a car crashed into a wall in Bromley Cross in the early hours of this morning.
Police closed Darwen Road near the junction with Hough Lane due to an oil spill caused by the crash.
The vehicle came off the road at around 4.30am, crashing into a wall next to the bus stop at Bromley Cross Village Hall.
Police and fire crews from Bolton North were called to the scene and the vehicle has now been removed.
There are no reported injuries and police are looking for a male driver who fled the scene.
Bolton North Watch Manager Ian Tattersall said the car was badly damaged and they had to close the road because of the large amount of oil which had spilled from the vehicle.
Bolton Council Highways cleaning crews were also out this morning to make the area safe.
The road has now been reopened.
