THESE old pictures of Kearsley offer an interesting parallel to today.
Amid some residents' unhappiness at the town’s treatment by Bolton Council, some readers might be surprised to see the image of Kearsley neighbours celebrating after local government boundary changes meant they remained part of the borough in 1991.
Elsewhere, we see the picture of a Mossfield Road resident unhappy about the foul smell emanating from a brook in 1973. Not unlike the current mystery of the odour that’s been lingering over Greater Manchester for several days.
Other interesting images show the old Kearsley power station, which closed in 1980.
