COUNCILLORS will be urged to tackle ‘selfish and inconsiderate’ crime and anti-social behaviour at a town hall meeting tonight.
Cllr David Greenhalgh, Bolton’s Conservative leader, will put forward a motion at this evening’s full council meeting demanding that the council sends ‘a clear message to its residents that this disrespectful, disruptive behaviour should not be tolerated’.
He says that there is a concerning level of harassment, vandalism, underage street drinking and drug abuse across Bolton.
The Tory leader wants a task group to be set up to identify the root causes of the problem.
Other topics due to be debated tonight include cuts to the police force, homelessness in the borough, and food hygiene inspections.
Harper Green Labour councillor Sue Haworth will also ask council members to help raise awareness of prostate cancer.
