A BOLTON mental health service has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Roger Hayes, unveiled a plaque to mark MhIST’s (Mental Health Independent Support Team) milestone achievement at its Hanover House base, in Hanover Street.

The inscription reads: “'Mental health Independent Support Team' to celebrate 25years service by staff and a sea of volunteers to the people of Bolton 1992-2017.”

About 50 people braved the inclement weather to celebrate the charity’s 25 years helping those with mental health difficulties.

Marion Moulton, volunteer and director at MhIST, SAID: “The Mayor and his wife were very interested in the work we do at MhIST and was keen to support the charity at further events. Although it was raining it did not distract us from celebrating and promoting the work of MhIST. We were very proud to have the Mayor unveil our plaque.”

After the unveiling Bolton ukulele band BUG provided entertainment and a buffet lunch was provided by MhIST’s support staff.
