LAST week’s picture was instantly recognisable despite the fact it was taken decades ago.

It showed a very popular place not far from Bolton town centre — a venue that was used regularly by many of our readers.

One of those readers was Stephen Ashcroft who was delighted to recognise the old booking office at Bolton’s Trinity Street Railway Station.

He was not the only reader to get the answer correct.

But it was Brenda Townson’s answer that really made us smile as the person seen in the photograph, at the ticket barrier, was her father, Mr Jim Priestley.

Ken Fitzharris tells us Bolton Railway Station was across the road from where it is now and the paper stall was W H Smith.
