A GROUP of performers got their kit off and performed for the crowd as The Real Full Monty came to Horwich.

Aston Wiggins, Luke Rush, Phil Dougal, Garry Whitingham and Karl Roberts were the willing participants at Saturday night's event at Horwich RMI, organised by Horwich First Community Group.

Town mayor and mayoress Steve and Lynn Rock attended the event held to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer.

Craig Rotheram, from Horwich First, said: "We hope that everyone enjoyed The Real Full Monty Charity evening on Saturday and thanks to all your support we have made lots of money for three great causes.

"This event was also about creating awareness around both Testicular and Prostrate Cancers, and if caught in the early stages can be cured. All we ask of everyone who came along – have that chat with your brothers, dads and grandads.

"We hope the Full Monty event will help break the ice, allowing you to have that conversation – so please go and have it for their sakes.

"Let's be honest, us men are rubbish at this sort of thing and the occasional prod is all it takes."

The show was choreographed by Kath Lancaster and featured music from the RMI Brass Band and DJ Phil Grimshaw.

The outfits were organised by Cllr Marie Brady and Jo Watkinson and Peter Ravald took the videos of the event.

The money will go towards cancer charities and a voluntary group in Horwich.

Organiser Ben Watkinson said the total raised would run into the thousands.
