EXTRA trains will be running between Bolton and Manchester to try and spread a bit of extra Christmas cheer.
Northern will be adding extra trains to its Saturday timetables between Oxford Road and Wigan to help people get to and from Manchester Christmas Market.
The markets started last week and run until Wednesday, December 20.
There will also be extra trains between Victoria and Wigan and Victoria and Rochdale.
Liam Sumpter, Regional Director for Northern, said: “The Manchester Christmas Markets are famous across the country and bring tens of thousands of visitors to the city and region.
“We are supporting this increase in visitors with extra Saturday services and, where possible, will look to put extra carriages on most routes into Manchester each weekend during the markets.
“This has not been easy to plan, but we are determined to help continue the success of the Manchester Markets and give our customers a little Christmas spirit.”
Despite the extra services, people are being urged to leave extra time for travel as transport links will be even busier at the weekend during the market.
