A FAULTY laptop battery sparked a house fire in Lostock.
Firefighters reported that the battery caught fire on Sunday afternoon before the blaze spread to a nearby chair and toys.
A fire engine from Horwich and two from Bolton were called to the scene at 1.40pm and spent an hour and 20 minutes extinguishing the blaze.
A fire service spokesman said: “The fire began due to a faulty laptop battery, catching fire and spreading to the chair and toys that it was near to.
“Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire and used a specialist ventilation fan to clear the remaining smoke.”
