AMIR Khan is the only I’m A Celebrity contestant with a chance of winning the show over Georgia Toffolo, according to bookmakers.

Recent odds from Betfred have shown that the Bolton boxer’s odds of becoming king of the jungle stand at 8-1, putting him second favourite after Toff, who is at 2-5.

According to a spokesman from Betfred, 80 per cent of his support, in betting terms, has been coming from Bolton and the surrounding areas, with people betting up to £250 on the boxer.

Fred Done, founder of Betfred, said: “He is the sporting man’s choice in that boxing has always got a lot of support in Bolton.

“Amir Khan has come across not just as a likeable character but as someone who is willing to engage in a lot of the conversation in the jungle.

“Even if he doesn’t always know what he is actually talking about, he has made us laugh and that is a key attribute when it comes down to who is going to be king or queen of the jungle.

“We have had more interest in this show than other reality programmes including X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing.

“It is particularly because the show this year has chosen celebrities from all walks of life and the emphasis has moved a little away from trials to the chatter around the campsite.

“It is for Toff to lose but if anyone is going to win it ahead of her would be Amir Khan. We can see that 80 per cent of his support in betting terms is from Bolton and the surrounding areas.”

Amir survived the recent third vote-off as Becky Vardy was named the latest celebrity to leave the show.

The camp-mates held a secret ballot to choose the next Prime Minister and Vanessa White was chosen to lead.

She then chose Amir to serve as her deputy and the pair assigned the duties to their fellow celebrities.

In tonight's episode, Amir was seen training Bury actor Jamie Lomas.

Amir said: "I think Jamie’s going to be ready for his next fight as soon as we get out of the Jungle I’m going to get him in the ring."
