A SEVERE weather warning has been issued, with snow likely across the region tomorrow, Friday December 29.
A yellow warning has been issued for snow between 3am and 3pm and a yellow warning of ice has also been issued for between 2am and 9am.
In addition to yellow warnings affecting the majority of Greater Manchester, a more severe amber warning has been issued for Rochdale and East Lancashire.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Some roads and railways will be affected leading to longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Some delays to air travel are also expected.”
The Met Office chief forecaster added: “A weather system is expected to bring a spell of snow to parts of the UK on Friday. The heaviest snowfall is expected across parts of northern England where accumulations of 5-10 cm are likely, with up to 15 cm possible over higher ground.”
