LIFE is about to get that little bit sweeter for customers of an award winning café.

From next week the much missed LotsOsweets will be returning to Wunderley’s Cafe and Bistro, in Little Lever

Run by mother-and-daughter team Alice More and Amy Wunderley the old-fashioned confectionary shop was a real hit with sweet-toothed villagers during its four year tenure in Church Street.

However the popular outlet, which won a Business Acceleration Award, closed when Mrs More took retirement.

But now it is making a return to the village, this time in Market Street, under the roof of the Bolton and Bury Business Awards' Family Business of the Year.

Mrs Wunderley is looking forward to bringing back old time sweets to the village, as well as special gifts, and Mr Fitzpatrick’s temperance drinks, such as dandelion and burdock and sarsaparilla.

She said: "I'm extremely excited. I'm glad I can make our customers happy because it's what they want, and I can reopen a business that was so successful last time - we now have two award winning businesses under one roof."

Mrs Wunderley admits she was 'gutted' when LotsOsweets had to close in 2014.

But the impetus to bring the shop back came from cafe regulars and old LotsOsweets customers.

She said: "Before Christmas we started to think about things we were being asked for in the cafe, A couple of people asked if we were bringing the sweetshop back, and that got my brain ticking a bit."

She got in touch with the owners of Little Lever Market, and arranged to run a stall there over the festive period — and it proved such a hit she decided to bring it back full time.

She said: "Customers in the cafe were saying it was great they were able to order things, but it would been so much easier if they could order when they visit. So we started to think if there was a way we could juggle things around in the cafe."

She continued: "Customers didn't want to have to go to two different places. They wanted to come for lunch and order here. And if that's what they want , that's what they will get."

For some it is a long-awaited return, but Mrs Wunderley says the business was not previously in a position to incorporate LotsOSweets.

She said: "When we opened the cafe people realised who I was and would say 'are you not doing sweet orders or gift boxes?'. But now we are up and running with the cafe and it's another opportunity, we would be silly not to do it.

"And we are open seven-days-a-week. People like to go for a walk on a Sunday and grab some sweets on the way back for a lazy afternoon."

The cafe has also gone into partnership with a local florist, and customers will be able to browse her portfolio and place orders for bouquets and arrangements through Wunderley's."

Mrs Wunderley added: "It's ticking all the boxes for people when they come in, everything's under one roof, they're not having to go shopping around."

LotsOSweets reopens at Wunderley's Cafe and Bistro, in Market Street, Little Lever, on Monday.
