WANDERERS should be taking notes when they meet UEFA Cup finalists Espanyol at the Reebok tonight, says new Spanish signing Mikel Alonso.
Having played twice against the Barcelona side for Real Sociedad in La Liga last season, the 27-year-old midfielder is able to give his team-mates the inside track in what will be the final Reebok dress rehearsal before the season opener against Newcastle United on August 11.
Espanyol beat the likes of Benfica, Ajax and Werder Bremen on their way to the showpiece final in Glasgow last season, where they were only separated by penalties against compatriots Sevilla.
And Alonso who recently arrived at the Reebok on a season-long loan, has warned his new team-mates to take notes if they are to succeed in the competition this term.
"They were a great side last season and got to the final playing some very good football," Alonso said.
"It will be a very difficult game because they use the ball well. We are playing in Europe this season, so must do the same."
