A LOYAL Wanderers fan who continued to support the club after emigrating in the 1970s has died in South Africa.
Don Lomax, who was born in Bolton but was living in Johannesburg at the time of his death, subscribed to The Bolton News so he could continue to follow the Whites fortunes.
And in May 1995 this newspaper rewarded Mr Lomax by organising for him to attend the 1995 League Cup final, in which Wanderers’ took on Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.
He was guest of honour at the match in which Bolton were defeated 2-1.
Members of Mr Lomax’s family are gathering in his memory at the Macron Stadium on March 3, to watch Bolton take on Preston North End.
